NORDLYS GLOBAL VOICES SERIES - CAFFE LENA & SPAC PRESENT AROOJ AFTAB

Saratoga Performing Arts Center and Caffè Lena announced a three-part concert series, Nordlys Global Voices Series, as part of a new programming collaboration featuring original and traditional musicians from non-English-speaking nations. Launched by the two beloved Saratoga venues, the series concludes with Pakistanti neo-Sufi musician Arooj Aftab (5/19). An integral part of the revival of independent Pakistani music in the early 2000s, Arooj Aftab’s album Bird Under Water introduced a new music genre — ‘neo-sufi’ — to the world. Born and raised in Lahore, Aftab studied in Boston before settling in Brooklyn, where she performs her soulful music, which has been described as having a languid, dreamlike quality.
