In this class, students will learn to make a wooden bucket using traditional hand tools and authentic techniques. Beginning with boards, you will finish with a functional bucket to take home. This is an introduction to the historic trade of coopering: the making of containers made from staves held together by hoops. No glue is used; a watertight seal is created by the perfect fit of the staves and bottom. Other items made by the cooper include butter churns, washtubs and barrels. Hand tool experience is helpful, but not required. This class is for students 18 years and older.
